Bamford: a wellness storefront the brand can shape itself
A wellness storefront with room for the brand to breathe.

The brief.
Bamford is a wellness and lifestyle house with a quiet, considered identity — clothing, skincare, a spa, and a gifting tradition that matters at Christmas. Sister brand to Daylesford, and held to the same standard. The existing storefront asked too much of the team to update and too much of the customer to use. The brief was a site that felt like the brand at first glance, handled the range without strain, and let the marketing team launch moments without queuing behind a developer.
Approach.
I led the build as technical lead, contracted through Develo Design, with a Develo pod alongside me. Work began in the spring and ran through to the end of 2025. Alongside the storefront, I designed a set of reusable layout blocks — a widget system — that the Bamford team could use to compose pages themselves. The same system is now used by Develo on other client projects. The approach favoured fewer moving parts, calmer pages, and tools the brand team could actually hold.
What I shipped.
- 01A faster, lighter storefront across category, product and content pages
- 02Express checkout with Apple Pay, Google Pay and card, plus reliable address lookup
- 03Subscriptions for skincare refills, with a clear place to manage them
- 04Click-and-collect and store pickup alongside home delivery
- 05Gift wrapping and gift messaging surfaced where a customer expects them
- 06Waitlist and notify-me on out-of-stock lines
- 07Search and merchandising the team can tune without raising tickets
- 08Post-purchase flows for abandoned baskets and winbacks through Klaviyo
“The team can now stand up a seasonal landing page before lunch and have it live by the afternoon. That shift, more than any single feature, is what changed how we work.”
Outcome.
The storefront is quicker to move through and easier to read. Checkout sees fewer drop-offs, and address errors — a quiet tax on support — fell sharply. Skincare now has a real path for repeat customers through subscriptions. The marketing team ship more campaigns in a week than they used to in a month, and the widget system that made that possible has become part of Develo's standard kit.
The lesson.
A brand site ages well when the people who run the brand can change it without asking permission.
